Cancel a proforma invoice and check which services it affects

Reviewed on 2 min read proforma invoices

Go to the client area, open Billing > Pending payments, open the proforma invoice and select Cancel proforma.

Cancelling a renewal proforma invoice is not just removing a payment reminder: the services it includes will be marked not to renew, will expire on their due date and may be deleted afterwards. First download any information or backup you need and confirm that every item on the proforma invoice should stop renewing.

If the proforma invoice is for a new service sign-up, or for the registration or transfer of a domain that is not yet active, cancelling it withdraws that request rather than waiting for a due date.

You cannot cancel it when a direct debit charge is already in progress. If you have sent a bank transfer, there is a pending charge or you only want to remove one of several services included, contact us before going ahead so the payment and the cancellation do not cross.

Before and after confirming

Review every line of the document and keep the proforma number. If only one service is not needed, cancel its renewal from the service page where appropriate; do not cancel the whole document to correct a single item.

Afterwards, check the confirmation and the status of the services. If an error appears or there is a payment in transit, stop and ask us, quoting the reference: repeating different actions can cross an activation with a cancellation.

Cancelling a proforma invoice is not a refund of an amount already paid. To review a charge or an issued invoice, open a ticket about that document.
