Increase CPU, RAM and concurrent processes

Reviewed on 3 min read cpu memoria limites

If the project repeatedly reaches its CPU, memory or process limits, you can increase its resources. First, review Service health and Resource usage to identify the limit and when it is reached; a code problem or a slow external query does not always improve by ordering more capacity.

Increasing resources on hosting plans

The usual way to increase resources is to move to a higher plan. The current plans are Inicia, Webmaster, Avanza and Max. On the Avanza and Max plans you can also add CPU, memory and processes in blocks, independently of disk space.

In the client area, go to Hosting, open the service options and click Plan and add-ons. In the More CPU and RAM tab you can enter the number of blocks you want to add and check the increase in CPU, memory, processes and cost before adding it to the cart.

Each block adds 0.5 CPU cores, 512 MB of RAM and 5 concurrent processes. The selector lets you order up to 12 blocks; before adding them, review Service health to confirm which limit the account is reaching and avoid increasing a resource that is not the cause of the problem.

Increasing resources on multi-account plans

Accounts created within a multi-account plan have resources equivalent to an Inicia plan.

To increase an account's resources there are two options: turn the account into a standalone one and assign it one of the available hosting plans, or add extra resources to that account.

To do this, go to Hosting, open the multi-account service options and click Plan and add-ons. In Resources for an account, first select the account and then the resource block you want to add.

Check the upgrade

Review the initial cost, the renewal and the target account before confirming the order. Adding it to the cart does not apply the change: wait for the activation confirmation and check the new limits.

Afterwards, compare usage and errors during a similar load period. Concurrent processes are not a fixed number of visitors; they depend on the work each request carries out.

On an Elastic plan, resources are adjusted from its own screen. Look at that option if you often need to adapt capacity.
