Respond to a Red.es special cancellation procedure
Red.es may open a Procedimiento Especial de Cancelación (special cancellation procedure) when the deficiencies found in the holder details of a .es domain are not corrected. It is not the same as letting a domain expire because it was not renewed.
Check the notification and the deadline
Check the case file by going to the Red.es management area from Dominios.es. Keep the reference and the start date. If the notice only asks you to correct details and there is no case file yet, follow the guide to the prior request.
The Red.es instruction sets 30 calendar days to submit representations. After the first 10 calendar days, the domain stops being visible on the internet while the case is processed. Check the specific dates in the case file and act as soon as possible.
Correct the details and submit your representations
- Log in with the identifier of the holder or of the contact authorised for the procedure. Only recover your own credentials; if you do not control their email, ask Red.es or us.
- In Mis solicitudes (My requests), find the procedure and check which details are being questioned.
- Correct the information and prepare the documents that prove the holder's identity or their representation.
- Use the Finalizar alegación (Finish representations) or submission action shown in the case file. Changing a record and saving it is no substitute for formally submitting your representations.
- Keep the proof of submission and check the status.
Only provide personal documents through the official channel requested. Do not post ID documents, identifiers or case files as screenshots in an open ticket.
Wait for the decision
Red.es will review the documents and announce the result. A favourable decision is not guaranteed, nor is a fixed period of a few days. If the status requires further action, deal with it within the stated deadline.
A DNS correction, a renewal payment or a hosting change does not close this procedure. If the domain is confirmed to continue, then check its status, DNS resolution, website and email.
