Understand the price of a premium domain
For certain extensions, the registry classifies some names as premium and assigns them a different price category. The criteria depend on each registry; common examples include:
- Length of the name.
- How important the term is for identifying what it refers to.
- Being made up of a single word or a highly meaningful term.
The premium price may apply to registration and, depending on the extension, also to renewal, transfer or recovery. Before placing the order, confirm both the initial price and the later costs.
Hostsuar does not process these domains automatically at the normal price. If the search tool shows the premium domain warning, contact us to confirm its full price and whether we can handle that extension.
What to confirm
Ask for the price of registration, renewal, transfer and recovery where they apply, as well as taxes and currency. A registration offer does not prove that the following years will cost the same.
Tell apart a name the registry has classified as premium from one that is already registered and that its holder is selling. The second case is a sale with its own procedure; the search for available domains does not handle that operation on its own.
If the form detects a premium name, do not repeat the order with a different spelling to try to get the normal price: you could end up registering a different name.
