Set up cPanel contact email and notifications

Reviewed on 1 min read contact details notifications

cPanel uses its contact details to send you account notifications, such as quota or certificate problems. This address is separate from the email you use to log in to the Hostsuar client area.

Change the address

  1. Open cPanel > Preferences > Account Preferences.
  2. In Contact Information, enter the main address and, if you need one, a secondary address.
  3. Use at least one address outside this hosting: if the disk fills up or the account's email fails, you must still be able to receive notifications.
  4. Enter the cPanel password the form asks for and save the changes.

Open the section again to check the result. Changing this does not change the mailbox addresses, a domain's registrant or the client's billing details.

Choose the notifications

Review Contact Preferences and the available AutoSSL options. Keep the notifications that let you detect disk and certificate problems in time; their availability depends on the server configuration.

A notification does not on its own confirm that the problem is still active. Open the affected service and check its current status. If the message relates to a password or contact change you do not recognise, review the account's accesses and contact support.

See space notifications to tell cPanel warnings apart from those sent by the client area.
