Classic Roundcube: what happened to Larry and how to use Elastic

The classic Larry skin is no longer available in the Roundcube shipped with current versions of cPanel. The interface in use is Elastic, which also adapts to small screens. cPanel removed Larry in version 120, after it was dropped from Roundcube 1.6, according to its deprecation plan.

If you came here looking for how to go back to the classic interface, the old skin selector cannot bring it back. You do not need to delete the account or change your email settings.

Finding your way around Elastic

The navigation lets you open Mail, Contacts and Settings. Within mail, select a folder to see its messages; the actions available depend on whether you have selected one message or several.

On narrow screens, part of the navigation is tucked into menus. If you cannot see the folders or an action, open the relevant menu before assuming it has gone.

You can adapt the reading view with these options:

• Dark or light mode, to change the interface colours.
• Message list or threaded conversations, to organise the view.
• Settings > Preferences, to review the display options your installation offers.

Changing the skin does not migrate or delete messages. If a folder is missing, check its visibility in Settings > Folders and compare with another IMAP client. If you need help finding a feature, tell us which one you used and which device you log in from.
