Organise Roundcube messages as a list or in threads
Roundcube can show each message separately or group related ones into conversation threads. Choosing a view changes how the folder is presented; it does not move its messages or merge their contents.
Change the view
Open the folder and go to Options, next to the message list. Select List or Threads in the display options and save if the dialog asks you to.
- List: each email has its own entry, including replies.
- Threads: lets you expand messages the server recognises as part of a conversation.
Grouping depends on the information linking the messages. Do not assume that two emails with the same subject always form a thread, or that the conversation automatically includes every folder.
Find unread replies
In threaded view, use Threads > Expand Unread when it is available. Check the messages still marked as unread within each conversation: opening one message is not the same as reading all its replies.
You can also expand a conversation with its side indicator or temporarily switch back to List to inspect the messages one by one. Check the read filter and the sort order if replies seem to be missing.
If you are looking for an email that does not appear, check the folder and the search filters first. Reindexing search only makes sense when search is failing and the server offers that feature; changing the view does not require reindexing.
