Set up an IMAP account on iPhone or iPad
To use your Hostsuar mailbox in Mail on iPhone or iPad, add an IMAP account with its incoming and outgoing servers. Have the SSL/TLS connection details to hand and check that the password works in webmail.
Add the account to Mail
- Open Settings > Apps > Mail > Mail Accounts > Add Account. In earlier versions, the path starts at Settings > Mail > Accounts.
- Choose Other > Add Mail Account.
- Enter your name, full email address, mailbox password and a description to identify it on the device.
- If manual setup appears, select IMAP. Fill in the incoming and outgoing mail servers with the names provided by cPanel.
- Enter the full address as the User Name and the password in both sections, including the outgoing one even if they are shown as optional.
- Continue, leave Mail turned on and save when verification finishes.
Apple keeps the instructions for adding accounts manually. The layout of the fields may change with iOS or iPadOS.
Check the secure settings
In the account settings, check Advanced for IMAP and SMTP > Primary Server for sending. The usual configuration is IMAP 993 with SSL and SMTP 465 with SSL. If your account says 587 with STARTTLS, use that combination in an app that lets you set it.
Do not accept a certificate that does not match the server. Copy the hostname again from the mailbox's SSL/TLS details and contact support if the warning persists.
Check the result
Send a message to another of your own accounts and reply from it. In webmail, check that it was received and check the Sent folder. In Advanced, make sure the sent, drafts and deleted mailboxes are folders on the server if you want them synced between devices.
If you can receive but not send, check the username and password of the primary SMTP server. After changing the password, update both incoming and outgoing. If you used POP before, do not delete that account until you have kept the messages that are only on the device: see POP vs IMAP.
