Domains and DNS
My registered domain doesn't appear in cPanel: how to add it
A domain appearing under Domains in the client area means you manage its registration with Hostsuar. To use it on a hosting account it also has to be set up in the relevant cPanel account. Registering or transferring the name doesn't copy a website or create its mailboxes.
Check where you need it
- If the website and email will stay with another provider, keeping its DNS may be enough. You don't need to add the domain to cPanel just because you registered it here.
- If you'll use it on a Hostsuar hosting account, log in to the cPanel of that service. Having several hosting accounts is a common reason for looking in the wrong one.
- If it is already listed under Domains in cPanel, don't create it again: check the folder assigned and the service you want to set up.
Add the domain to the hosting
- Open cPanel from the client area.
- Go to Domains and click Create a New Domain.
- Enter the name without protocol or paths: for example,
ejemplo.com. - For a separate website, untick the option to share the document root and check its folder. Sharing the root is for showing the same content as the main domain.
- Confirm the creation and look for the name in the list.
Check that your plan allows another domain. If cPanel says it already exists in another account on the server, contact support with the name and the destination hosting; don't try to fix it by deleting another website.
What to do next
The domain should now be available to install an application or create email accounts. That doesn't mean visits or messages are reaching it here yet.
Prepare the content and then set up the appropriate DNS. If there is already a website, you can test the destination before the change. Keep your external email if you use it.
See managing domains and subdomains in cPanel if you need to choose between a separate website, an alias or a subdomain.
