Check renewal emails and notices about domains
A message about your domain can use correct details and still be fake. Scammers gather information from websites, public records and leaks to imitate renewals, trademark disputes or urgent offers.
Identify the request
| Message | Independent check |
|---|---|
| "Your domain is expiring: pay here" | Log in to your usual provider's area and check the expiry date and pending payments |
| "Another company will register your trademark" | Verify the organisation and the supposed claim; do not pay for an unproven priority |
| "Renew your search engine listing" | Check what service is being offered: it may be advertising, not the domain renewal |
| "Confirm the transfer" | If you did not request a transfer, check the status with your provider before authorising it |
Do not share the domain's transfer code or a password to verify a notice. The name, design and visible sender of the email do not prove where it comes from.
If the domain is with Hostsuar
Go in by typing core.hostsuar.com or from your bookmark. Open the right domain and check its status, date and renewal. Also check Pending payments. If it does not match the email, contact us with the original message attached before paying or approving a transfer.
Messages using ICANN's name
ICANN does not charge you directly for renewing your domain. A payment request imitating its brand should be checked with your registrar. ICANN explains how to recognise these impersonations.
A legitimate data verification request from your provider and a formal claim also need to be reviewed; do not ignore every notification because it looks like a scam. Confirm each one through the known channel. For the pattern of registration offers in China, see this specific guide.
If you have already given details
Keep the message and whatever you authorised. Change any exposed credentials, check access and notify your provider if you shared the transfer code. If there was a suspicious payment, contact your payment provider through its official channel as soon as possible.
