Connect a Hostsuar domain to Webflow

You can publish a Webflow project with a domain registered or managed at Hostsuar without transferring it. The domain is still managed here and only the website records point to Webflow. To use a custom domain you need a paid Site plan in Webflow.

Get Webflow's current records

In Webflow, open Site settings > Publishing > Production, click Add a custom domain and choose the manual connection. Copy the records it shows for the root domain and www.

Don't use values from old screenshots or tutorials. Webflow has changed its DNS infrastructure and you must apply the records shown for your project. Its official documentation keeps the process for manually connecting a custom domain.

Edit the right DNS zone

  • With our nameservers and a hosting plan, use cPanel's Zone Editor.
  • For a domain managed with our zone tool without hosting, edit the records in DNS zone, on the domain's page in the client area. Its DNS assistant includes the "Move the website to Webflow" recipe. Check that its values match your project's before confirming the change.
  • If the nameservers belong to Cloudflare or another provider, make the changes there.

Add or replace the A and CNAME records Webflow gives you, and also create the _webflow verification TXT record when it appears in the project. Delete old records that use the same name and conflict, but keep MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC and verifications if email or other services are still active.

Verify and publish

Go back to Webflow, verify the domain, select which version will be the default and publish the project to the connected domains. Webflow will issue the SSL certificate once the public records are correct.

Propagation can take several hours. If the status check doesn't confirm that the custom domain is verified, check:

  • That you edited the authoritative zone.
  • That there are no duplicate A, AAAA or CNAME records for the same name.
  • That the name doesn't contain the domain twice.
  • That the project was actually published to the custom domain.
  • That both www and the root domain have been added in Webflow.

Connecting the domain doesn't copy the project or your email to Hostsuar hosting; it only changes where web visitors go.

Avoid unnecessary changes

An older account may show a different set of records from another project. Use the ones under Publishing > Production for the website you're going to publish, including its verification TXT record; don't copy the code from another site.

Keep the records you replace. If you need to go back to the previous hosting, restore those values and check its certificate and content. Keeping the domain registration at Hostsuar lets you keep managing its renewals here, even if the website is published on Webflow.
