Troubleshooting

Some databases do not appear in phpMyAdmin

Reviewed on 2 min read phpmyadmin permisos

If a database does not appear in phpMyAdmin, first check whether cPanel recognises it as belonging to your account. Its absence from the list does not prove that the browser is showing an old copy.

  1. Go to MySQL Databases in cPanel.
  2. Search for the full database name, including the account prefix.
  3. If it does not appear there either, do not try to create another database with the same name or delete any content. Ask for a review to check the database's existence and ownership on the server.
  4. If it appears in cPanel but not in phpMyAdmin, close phpMyAdmin and open it again from cPanel once.
  5. If it is still missing, ask for a review stating the exact database name and when it was created or restored. Do not send passwords.

The review should check the cPanel error log, the session's MySQL permissions and the account's database map. Depending on what those checks show, it may be necessary to repair the permissions, rebuild the map or refresh the database cache. None of these causes should be taken as confirmed before reviewing the server data.

Confirm the account and the connection

Check that you opened cPanel from the right hosting account, especially if you manage several accounts. Compare the database name configured in the application without publishing its password or the full file.

If the application still works, say so in the ticket: it helps tell existence and SQL access apart from a problem with the list or the phpMyAdmin session. If the database was restored, give the time and the tool used so its association with the account can be reviewed.
