Troubleshooting
Error accessing phpMyAdmin from cPanel, Access denied for user
If you open phpMyAdmin from cPanel and see an error like this:
mysqli_sql_exception: Access denied for user 'cpses_USUARIO'@'localhost' (using password: YES)
cPanel could not authenticate in MySQL the temporary user used for that session. In this case, a documented cause is that the main cPanel password and its MySQL password have got out of sync.
An Access denied error that shows the name of a regular MySQL user does not confirm this diagnosis. In that case, the credentials and permissions of that particular user need to be checked.
Reset the main password
- Close phpMyAdmin.
- Log in to the Hostsuar client area.
- Go to Hosting and then Login details.
- Replace the cPanel password with a new, unique one.
- Log in to cPanel again from the client area and open phpMyAdmin.
Hostsuar asks the server to sync the account's MySQL password as well. You do not need to change the passwords of separate MySQL users if the message does not identify one of them.
The main password is also used for cPanel and the main FTP access. If any integration uses that same user, update the password there.
If phpMyAdmin still shows the error, ask for a review and include the exact message. We will check the sync and whether there is an old ~/.my.cnf file with different credentials. Do not send any password.
If the website still connects to the database
The application may work while phpMyAdmin does not: the application uses its own SQL user, whereas access from cPanel uses a temporary session. Do not change wp-config.php or any other website configuration just to fix that panel access.
Close the old cPanel tabs and log in again from the right service. If the error persists, say whether it affects all databases or only one, and whether it started after a restore or a password change. Do not delete ~/.my.cnf or regenerate SQL users without checking what they are used for.
