Enable statistics from the Metrics Editor
cPanel's Metrics Editor lets you choose which programs process each domain's logs. It is useful if you need local reports such as AWStats.
Enable a program for a domain
- Log in to cPanel and look for Metrics Editor.
- Find the domain. If HTTP and HTTPS appear separately, check the variant your website uses.
- Tick the available program you want to use and save.
- Wait for the statistics to be processed and open the report. Check its update date.
On our services, AWStats may be disabled at first to avoid unnecessary processing and storage. If a checkbox cannot be changed or the program does not appear, it may depend on the server configuration: contact support and include the domain.
What changes and what does not
Enabling a program starts its processing according to the configuration available; it does not guarantee that all historical traffic will be rebuilt. That depends on which logs have been kept.
Disabling it stops that processing, but it does not disable all the server logs or automatically delete old statistics. Review data retention separately if you need to free up space.
AWStats and browser-based analytics measure from different places. Choose according to the question you want to answer and do not enable extra tools just to try to make the figures match.
