Troubleshooting
Website built with Elementor does not show images or styles correctly
Elementor generates style files in /wp-content/uploads/elementor/css/. After migrating or changing the domain, some saved references may still point to the old URL, but not every image or CSS failure has that cause.
Confirm the failing URL
Open the browser tools and check Network. Reload the page and find the CSS or image requests that fail.
- If they request the old domain, continue with the URL replacement.
- If they use the current domain, note the HTTP code and the path: a 404, a mixed content block and a 403 need different checks.
Replace the old URL
Make a database backup first. In WordPress, go to Elementor > Editor > Tools > Replace URL; in earlier versions, Elementor > Tools.
Enter the old address first and then the new one, including the scheme and any subdirectory. Use https:// only if that is the real URL and the certificate is already valid.
Then go to the General section of those tools and use the option to clear or regenerate files and data; the name changes depending on the version. Clear the page cache and the browser cache once.
Check that WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) are correct. If you cannot get into the dashboard, see the guide to changing the WordPress domain or URL.
Reload the page with the Network tab open. Confirm that the requests use the new domain, respond correctly and that the regenerated CSS files do not keep old references. Do not run a direct text replacement on an SQL dump: it can damage serialised data.
In the current interface the button is called Clear Files & Data; previously it could appear as Regenerate CSS & Data. The official Elementor migration guide describes the URL change and the regeneration.
If the resource still responds 404, check that Elementor can write to its directory and that no file is missing from the deployment. Also test backgrounds, templates and mobile layouts; a correct home page does not prove that every reference has been updated.
