Security and SSL
Choose which AutoSSL notices you receive
AutoSSL sends notices about certificate issuance and renewal. Before silencing a message, identify the affected domain and check SSL/TLS Status: turning off the email does not fix the failure or renew the certificate.
Change the notifications
- Log in to cPanel and look for Contact Information. From cPanel 130 it may be inside Account Preferences.
- Check that the contact address works and that you can read it even if the hosting's domain fails.
- In the AutoSSL notices, choose the coverage and save:
| Option | What you will receive |
|---|---|
| All events | Failures, deferrals and successful installations |
| Failures and deferrals | Problems that prevent or delay issuance |
| Failures only | Failure notifications; none of the other events |
| Disable notifications | No AutoSSL notices through this preference |
The names and location depend on the version and the features enabled. See the preferences documented by cPanel if they do not match your screen.
If a domain is no longer in use
First check whether it serves a website, email or a subdomain you still need. If it was moved, check who now manages its certificate and, where appropriate, ask for its coverage to be removed from this server's AutoSSL. Do not silence notices for the whole account to hide a single obsolete name.
For an active website, keep a way of being notified of failures. If the message mentions a possible reduction of coverage, check which names would no longer be included before the renewal.
